Can you Gamify a City?
Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. Essentially, it involves integrating aspects like point scoring, competition, and rules of play into areas such as education, marketing, and in your case, city exploration and historical engagement, to motivate participation, engagement, and loyalty.
Mixed Immersive Interactive Experience
Jay-N-da-boX, A Game Genie
In New Orleans, I'm revolutionizing urban exploration with my mobile RPG, "The Solace of 7" (So7), utilizing cutting-edge photogrammetry and augmented reality (AR). By transforming historical and cultural landmarks into interactive, 3D augmented experiences, players can uncover the city's hidden narratives through their mobile devices. As they navigate from one site to another, AR overlays not only enrich the journey with immersive historical scenes but also guide them to their next clue, integrating the city's lore with the gameplay. Each location is part of a larger puzzle, where players learn about New Orleans' past, framed through the seven deadly sins, each associated with infamous local figures. This gamification of history makes learning interactive and engaging, turning a simple walk through the city into a dynamic adventure. By merging technology with storytelling, So7 offers a compelling educational tool that celebrates and preserves the vibrant spirit and rich history of New Orleans.
